Reporting to School
It is required that all students report to the hotel in Riverside and/or Sacramento, California no later than 5:00 p.m on opening night of camp for registration. After checking into the hotel our instructors will direct you to our offices in the hotel for school registration. At our opening meeting at 7:00 p.m. Either Thursday or Wednesday evening, we will introduce our staff instructors and then give an outline of our program. Campers reporting before the registration day can pay a discounted hotel rate. They need to make their early reservations by contacting Billy Haze at .
Travel
Plan to arrive at the hotel no later than by 5:00 p.m. Either Thursday or Wednesday (pending on which camp). Return travel can be planned to suit the schedule, which follows. Our Black & Blue Umpire Camps graduation social will be held Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. Final day of the camps will be Sunday. All campers must vacate the hotel premises by noon on Sunday. Campers may leave at any time after the completion of field work and closing ceremonies on Sunday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. If you are flying home Sunday, please in order to attend closing ceremonies and make the commute to the airport, we recommend you schedule your departures after 7:00 p.m. We pay great attention to every student. We act as your family away from home and we strive to make this school the most rewarding days of your life.
What to Bring
Proper attire includes charcoal grey umpire pants, umpire shirts, black or black/white shoes, umpire hat, camp t-shirt (provided by Black & Blue Umpire Camps). All students should bring complete umpire gear for working the plate and bases each day, including but not limited to: mask, chest protector, shin guards, plate shoes and any other protective equipment that might normally be used. A jacket is advisable for any unpredictable weather that may arise in October in either North or Southern California.
Students should bring a sport jacket and dress slacks for the Saturday evening “Black & Blue Umpire Camps Graduation” Also business casual is required for the meet & greet cocktail social on opening night following registration.
